Inauguration of two filtration systems at the cemetery of Père Lachaise 19-1-2009
After several months of work, the inauguration of the two new filtration systems at the crematorium of Père Lachaise has now taken place. This equipment was designed and installed by Facultatieve Technologies, leader in the market of cremation, incineration and filtration technologies.

This project was a challenge for Facultatieve Technologies because of the various constraints it had to respect. For example, as this cemetery is classified as an “historic monument”, it was imperative that the installation was not visible and the architecture of the crematorium remained intact. Thanks to its Research & Development team, Facultatieve Technologies proposed a custom made and ultra compact solution, which significantly reduces emissions and enables Père Lachaise crematorium to respond to strict environmental legislation.
During the inauguration, Mrs Marinette Bache and Mr François Michaud Nérard, respectively President and Managing Director of Funeral Services of Paris, made a speech, also Mr Henry J. Keizer, President & Chief Executive Officer of The Facultatieve Group and Secretary-General of the ICF (International Cremation Federation), who talked about the need to take care of sustainable development “It is indeed necessary to mobilize individuals to realize effectively a change. The realization of the sustainable development is not often simple, this installation is the best example.”. During his speech, he spoke about the good collaboration between the City of Paris and Facultatieve Technologies, which allowed through this installation to “realize something which has never been realized until now”.
This event was the occasion for the crematorium to receive ISO 140001 certification from a representative of AFAQ. After the ceremony, tours of the filtration systems were arranged to explain the concept of these installations.
