Inauguration of new Facultatieve Technologies facilities at the crematorium of the Cemetery of Montjuïc. 21-6-2010

On 14 June 2010, the crematorium of the Cemetery of Montjuïc inaugurated new equipment, designed and installed by Facultatieve Technologies. The inauguration took place in the presence of Messrs Jordi William Carnes, deputy mayor of Barcelona, Jordi Valmaña, director-general of the Cemeteries of Barcelona and Patrick De Meyer, Vice-President of Facultatieve Technologies.

These new facilities are a response to the wish of the city of Barcelona and its cemeteries to follow the recommendations of the Oslo/Paris Convention (OSPAR), with the objective of reducing emissions following cremations and more particularly restricting the release of mercury. This decision means that the city of Barcelona has taken a lead in the market, given that there is no legal obligation to control such emissions in Spain at this time.
Facultatieve Technologies, with its long and extensive experience in the areas of cremation and filtration, has installed state of the art equipment in the crematorium of the cemetery of Montjuïc, thus meeting the most important operational needs. This installation includes, among other things, a filtration system which offers a decisive solution to problems arising from the release of dust, mercury and dioxins, and a new FT III furnace, with its recognised environmentally friendly features, its compactness and its ability to handle even very large coffins (up to 1050 mm wide).
